There is so much more to being healthy than just toned arms, a six pack or a flat stomach. To be holistic, you are not only taking into account your physical health, but also the well-being of your mind and spirit. There are days when you feel down and your first resort might be a chocolate bar or a pack of potato chips. While it is true that they give you instant satisfaction, in the long run, you need foods that will actually sustain your mood and body.

The cure to your blues might start with the food you consume. Superpowders (Superfood Powders) can come to the rescue here. Packed with massive nutrients and health benefits, just one tablespoon will be enough to change the game!

You are probably wondering now – what are these Superpowders and how are they good for the mind? Wait no more, keep reading!

COCOA

Chocolate may not be the best option for a long-term mood leveler, but cocoa is. There are differences between the two despite coming from the same cacao tree. Cocoa powder is considered to be the purer form of chocolate and a healthier option with fewer calories, fat, and sugar.

Cocoa contains a neurotransmitter called phenethylamine that acts as a mood lifter by increasing endorphins and serotonin to keep you happy. Whenever you are feeling blue, make yourself a cup of hot or iced cocoa to boost your mood!

MATCHA

Matcha has long been a traditional staple within Japan and China before it became the new favourite among health-conscious consumers. Why? It is super healthy and delicious! Most of us know it as a caffeine-boosting drink or weight loss essential, but there is so much more to this ancient delicacy.

Matcha tea contains a generous amount of L-Theanine, an amino acid that is said to reduce stress and help you feel relaxed. Combined with its caffeine content, this drink offers sustained calm alertness which makes it a better alternative to coffee. Most people drink 1 to 2 cups of matcha tea per day as an early morning lifter, an afternoon pick-me-up, or a pre-workout calorie burner.  Learn more about it here!

TURMERIC

Sitting at the top of the health food trend right now, this “spice of life” is packed with nutrients for the heart, gut, skin, and mind. Turmeric is one of the best sources of curcumin, which can reduce free radicals in the brain. To find out what else turmeric is good and used for, check out our other blog here!
