Textured Soy Protein (T.S.P) is also known as Textured Vegetable Protein (T.V.P). It is a mechanically textured product with fibrous structure that approaches the texture of meat. T.S.P has a great nutty flavour and is typically a golden brown colour.

  • Ingredients

    Textured soy protein concentrate.

  • Directions

Add 7/8 cup boiling water to 1 cup T.S.P. Stir until all water is absorbed and let soak for 10 minutes. Drain water and season as desired before cooking. Yields 2 cups cooked T.S.P.

  • Uses

This product doubles in weight when reconstituted and requires no further cooking or processing, only rehydration. When hydrated, this product has a chewy texture and can be used to extend or replace meat in many food preparations including minced meat, casseroles, taco fillings and pizza toppings as a high complex carbohydrate, low-fat, high-fibre food. T.S.P may also be eaten as a snack, salad topping or sprinkled on top of cereal.

  • Storage
