It’s Pumpkin Season!

with Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

The fall season is upon us, when the leaves change colours, our days get shorter and we begin to pile on the scarves and sweaters. With the cold comes the excitement of everything pumpkin flavoured! Most people flock to the coffee shops and bakeries for a pumpkin spice latte or delicious pumpkin flavoured treats but these little goodies can be overfilled with grams upon grams of sugar.

With all the amazing health benefits that pumpkins and spices have to offer, why mix it with too much sugar? It’s delicious with its fall flavours all on its own! The best ingredient to have is our Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend; it’s perfect to mix in with muffins, cookies, pies, scones and of course the famously delicious fall latte. Our spice blend contains the perfect mixture of Ginger, Cinnamon and Allspice that gives your creation the perfect flavour. With the amazing health benefits of these spices, it’s hard to go wrong this holiday season.

This fall we suggest making your own pumpkin treats – it will save you some money and your diet. We are happy to bring you not one but two delicious variations on the pumpkin theme.

It’s Pumpkin Season!

Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

Pumpkin Spice Latte

with Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

Prep Time: 5 min

Cook Time: 10 min

Westpoint Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of Organic Cane Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

Other Ingredients

  • 2 cups Milk (any % you choose)
  • 4 tablespoons of Canned Pumpkin Puree
  • 2 tablespoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup of Strong Coffee or Espresso
  • Whipped Cream for topping (Optional)

Method

1) Add the milk, pumpkin, cane sugar, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice blend to a small sauce pan over medium-high heat.
2) Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly – if you allow it to boil it will get thick (yuck!).
3) Whisk the mixture until it starts to froth, for about 1 minute.
4) Divide milk mixture between two mugs.
5) Add the coffee slowly down the side so you don’t disturb the milk froth, garnish with whipped cream and a pinch more of the pumpkin pie spice and enjoy.
6) Tip: To add extra fun and flavour, use a Westpoint Naturals 6” Cinnamon sticks to stir your cup and enjoy that fall spice taste!
