  • Description

Xylitol is naturally occurring in many fruits and vegetables. Westpoint’s Xylitol is derived from North American grown hardwood trees such as birch, maple and poplar trees. It is extracted through an all-natural process utilizing steam and ion exchange, followed by crystallization. Xylitol is a non-fermentable sweetener, known to be diabetic safe. It appears as white crystals and has a sweet, cool taste.

  • Uses

Xylitol is ready for coffee, tea, cereal, and delicious baked goods. It is important to remember that xylitol does not caramelize when baking and sugar alcohols do not react with yeast, so they won’t help bread rise. Xylitol is a versatile sweetening agent. As a natural insulin stabilizer with a low glycemic response, it won’t cause spikes in blood sugar and may actually help reduce sugar and carbohydrate cravings. It is also widely used in sugar-free confectionery products because it does not cause cavities. Substitute xylitol for sugar in recipes on a 1:1 basis.

  • Storage

For an estimated shelf life of 12 months, product should be stored in a clean dry location, with temperatures under 27C, and 70% maximum humidity.
